“Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest” - Paul Simon
I’m Keith Edmunds, I live in the Forest of Dean in the UK with my wife Cecilia, my daughter and our Labrador.
Let’s start with the Labrador.
Rhys #
Cecilia is deaf and Rhys-the-Labrador is her Hearing Dog. We’ve had him since he was not quite two years old. He is trained to alert her to the doorbell, smoke alarm, kitchen timer and can also fetch her on command from someone else.
At first I thought this “fetch on command” would be very handy (reading on the sofa and want a cup of tea? “Rhys, call mum!”). It doesn’t work quite that way, although the problem is not at the Rhys end of the equation.
He’s retired now (think pipe and slippers), but still the nicest dog ever.
Me #
As for me, as well as a husband and dad, I’m a hybrid of business owner, gliding instructor, guitar player, presenter of music show and occasional writer.
Business owner #
I run Tiger Computing, a IT company specialising in Linux support and consultancy.
We’ve been doing that since 2002, and I’m proud of what the team there have achieved in those 20+ years.
Gliding instructor #
I’ve been teaching gliding since 1980, and these days I’m instructing at the Cotswold Gliding Club at Aston Down in Gloucestershire. I also have my own glider there. More info on the gliding pages.
Guitar player #
I’ve been playing guitar since I was about fifteen (my first guitar cost me a half-pint of lager and lime). I’ve only recently started playing with others with a couple of just-for-fun gatherings. Maybe we’ll play at an Open Mike night somewhere, sometime. Maybe.
Music show #
I present an online radio show most Thursday evening from 8pm until 10:30 or so. I’ll write up how that happened one day and put it on the music pages.
Occasional writer #
I did write a business book, but that’s not what I mean by “occasional writer”. I’m think more about just writing for fun. Which is the purpose of this blog.
