Odds 'n' sods
“Bits and pieces” - The Dave Clark Five
When I was about five or six, I remember my grandmother had drawers in her kitchen, each one labelled. One was “cutlery” (did she need to have a label telling her that?), and the third one down was labelled “odds and sods”.
At that age, that language was shocking. I mean, I knew the word “sod”, but how did my sweet, caring and above all nice grandma know it?
Anyway, grandma, if you’re looking down on me now, know that your kitchen drawer inspired the naming of this section. Like your drawer, this has things that don’t quite fit into other places.
